Using Netscape Communicator |
I am frequently editing my pages. I have tried several HTML editors and I prefer Netscape. I don't need another editing program taking up space on my hard drive. Everything I need is in one program; my e-mail, browser, composer and editor. I will give step-by-step instructions the way I do it. |
|
1. Open the page you want to edit in your Netscape browser. You can open it from your file on your hard drive or from your page on the net by going to your URL. These instructions will be for taking a page down from the net and editing it. |
2. Click File then Edit Page. A new page opens in editing form. |
3. You must remove the geoguide from this page
so it is not saved to your hard drive. You then have to reinsert
the code. To do this:
|
4. Remove your counter, if you have one. It cannot be saved to your hard drive because the image is in the Geocities cgi library. Reinsert this HTML tag in the same manner as you did the geoguide. <IMG SRC="/cgi-bin/counter"> If you do not have a counter and want one go to: http://www.oocities.org/members/tools/counter.html REMEMBER every time you edit it must be removed and reinserted. |
5. Save this page to your folder on your hard drive.
It will replace your original HTML page. Be sure it is titled the
same as the original page so it takes its place in your folder.
Example: index.html. (see "Creating Web Pages" on how to save your page) |
6. Go about you editing in the same manner you created the page. |
7. When completed, Save your final copy to your folder. |
8. Upload this new page to your file manager (see "Creating Web Pages") It will replace any page already uploaded with the same name. Be sure it is titled exactly the same as the page you want it to replace. |
9. View your new page being sure to reload the page so you are viewing the new page and not your cache copy. |
