Gene Adams is located in Washington with Port Gardner Sailboats. He has molds, original parts, or can lead you to people that can manufacture parts. Gene wrote the following history of his involvement with San Juan Sailboats. (courtesy Steve at San Juan 28/29).

Steve

I do own Port Gardner Sailboats. My brother and I were brokers in Everett and were the last dealer for San Juan Sailboats. We were involved with the factory in trying to help them put out a salable product, but the owner stayed in his office and had no idea what was going on in the shop. They decided to put one piece windows in the boats from 23' up and the way they did it made the boats hard to sell, because the windows were not in proportion with the boat lines. When I ordered my 34' I made them use conventional windows. They went broke and a new company bought them and we had great hope at first. They were not boaters, and had no idea about sailboats. We bought a 23, that came with drywall screws in the toe rail instead of though bolts. They had the machine screws in stock. It is not hard to see why they also went broke. By this time the bank that made the loan had merged with US Bank and they did not want the molds. The bank tried to abandon them and the land lord told them no. I made them an offer they could not refuse, and got the molds, parts and rights. I have a small boat building business that makes up for the low volume in the parts business. I hope to sell the boat building business and just do parts, as I am to the point where I do not want to work all the time, it cuts into my sailing time. I have just moved a mobil home onto the property, to make into a shop to build the boats. This will give me the ability to build a sailboat if anyone wants one.
