Don't look Back in Anger ?

Don't  Look Back in Anger

What is Anger? It's the expression of difference.
So why do we equate anger with a 4 letter word?
Because the ways to express anger have been expressed to us in
extreme form. Of all the four core emotions,  Sadness, Fear and Joy
being the other three, this one conveys the most risk to the person
on the receiving end.

What influences the expression of Anger?

Sex conditioning:
Big boys don't cry, but they can get angry instead  (it's the other way
around for big girls).  Why?  It's essential for the archetypal
Hunter-Gatherer to have anger as his aid.
But this means murder is on his mind.

Social conditioning:
It's unusual to  end up in prison for being sad or frightened because
these are passive, victim emotions.
Anger is active and compels us to persecute and act out instead
of acting in.

Self conditioning:
Anger is about loss.  Loss of control or ‘losing it’.
So what do we do instead?  Bottle it up and leave it to ferment.
The longer we leave it, the tighter we have to twist the lid until
eventually we ‘lose it’ and become the very thing we were avoiding
in the first place!

How can I manage my anger?
Take an emotional laxative!

For healthy emotional fluency, keep a daily check on what and
how you're feeling.  Allow all of your core emotions to  inform your
thinking.  Are you able to?  If not, ask for feedback.
Anger, when allowed to flow positively, is a great motivator – it feeds
our passion - but like salt, anger is no use to anyoone on its own.

Why join a Group?
The insights we get from reading, discussing, studying, thinking,
and so on, are healthy food for thought.
But, to gain the freedom we desire, we need to practice
those principles.
