Review:Avalon,
at its core, is about the decay of the family in America. At the beginning
of the film we see a large family gathered together for dinner telling
stories, laughing, arguing, and interacting. As the film progresses,
the same family begins to become more and more detached until we see
them huddled around the t.v. in silence at dinner. The film also captures
the detachment or exclusion of the elderly in today's society and the
"American dream" from the perspective of an immigrant. They're
many lessons to be learned from Avalon. -Review by Aaron Caldwell
