Review:
The hero of the story is a scientist in pursuit of learning why the wolf population
is declining in the Yukon. He’s dropped off by plane in the middle of the Yukon,
a cold vast area where only animals and a couple of Indians live. He’s inexperienced,
to say the least, at survival. His main area of expertise is in the art of the
textbook. The challenges faced by the biologist are extreme and with the help
from a few natives he’s able to endure and hence becomes reborn. -Review by Mark

Review:
Never Cry Wolf,
based on
a book written by Farley Mowat and directed by Carroll Ballard (Black Stallion),
is about a naturalist (Tyler) who is dropped into the wilderness to study the
habits of wolves. The movie is a captivating real-life tale of science and life
in the wild with absolutely gorgeous cinematography. We are able to identify with
Tyler (Charles Martin Smith) right from the start. Curtis Hanson, who went on
to direct LA Confidential and Wonder Boys, Co-wrote the screenplay.
Never Cry Wolf raises interesting issues about the preservation of wildlife.
It is also about a man who discovers who he is is, through his connection with
nature, and about how must of us don’t get it and are destroying everything we
touch in are pursuit of wealth. -Review by Aaron Caldwell
