Miss
Beryl: Doesn't
it bother you that you haven't done more with the life God gave you? Sully:
Not often. Now and then.
Toby:
Sully, You're a man amongst men.
Peter:
Mom's greatest fear is that your life was fun. Sully:
Tell her not to worry.
Charlotte:
How can you live in a town this size and not see your ex-wife all the time?
Sully: That's easy, dolly. Peter's mom and I don't
exactly travel in the same circles. As a matter of fact, Vera pretty much travels
in a straight line. Peter: SOMEBODY in this
family had to.
Review:
Paul Newman (Cool Hand Luke, Cat
on a Hot Tin Roof) is wonderful as Sully, an old man who has spent most
of his life avoiding responsibility and who now is thrown into daily contact with
a son who doesn't trust him and a grandson who doesn't know him. Carl (Bruce Willis),
Rub (Pruitt Taylor Vince), Toby (Mellanie Griffith), Peter and the one-legged
lawyer are all colorful characters. This may sound strange, but I loved the way
that it is snowing throughout most of the film. Nobody’s Fool is a engrossing
study of small town life and is a rare movie in these times, as it focuses on
characters and relationships rather than action & special effects. -Reviewed
