The "seasons". Size A4, pencil, water color, India ink, style.

Systematic recommendations:

Four works are doing "spring", "summer", and "autumn"; winter". These names are relative, since they are deprived of concrete images and are more formal than the composition exercises, which express emotional states.

Pairs: winter - summer; spring - autumn. Winter treats as the supremacy of the rigid elements of geometric figures and strips (initial prototypes - crystals of snow and ice), sustained in the cold colour range. Summer - the same

The predominance of soft elements (prototypes - different plants, flowers, butterfly) in the warm range. Spring and autumn are passage of one state to another, struggle of opposites. The concept of static and dynamics here for the first time is introduced (rest and motion). It shows based on different examples that the static elements will be located on the vertical line and the horizontals, dynamic - along the inclined lines (for example diagonal).

Winter and summer - are static, spring and autumn - are dynamic (fight implies motion). In this case the first are carried out in the colour nuance (i.e. only in the cold or only by heat colouring), the second - are contrasting.

For the students of low-order age permissibly nevertheless introduction into the composition, as the centre, such as real object (for example, years- butterfly, flower; winter - snowflake, polar bear; autumn - falling sheet; spring - sprout, bird.

The sequence of the stages of work is usual. Image must take the conditionally- decorative (planar) form; each element of figure is the locked form.

Before beginning work by paints should be more deeply opened the emotional value of different it is colour, for example: violet expresses melancholy green - rest, etc., so that the students could use this for the transfer of one or other state or another.

At the end India ink encircles the works, the boundary of all image elements. For the purpose of checking the level of our compositions, it is possible to use the "small window cut out from the paper". The more we find the interesting personnel, which are independent elementary compositions, the higher the work must be evaluated.

Task: To fasten in the trainees of the concept of rigid and soft nature, contrast and nuance; to learn them to transfer rest and motion, to use laws of chromatics with the transfer of mood. To show, as with the aid of the simple elements it is possible to compose the complex composition, which expresses the specific means, with the retention of entirety and joint subordination of parts.

In the process of fulfilling the versions of this exercise it is useful to conduct the following exercise. Having previously asked one of the trainees to arrive in the white (jacket, blouse), to place it before the slide projector with the inserted finished composition. Thus, the white background of clothing seemingly is covered with the coloured patterns, whose arrangement can be changed, moving sheet with the composition. This work to permissibly treat and as the sketch of figure for the cloth.
