"The End"  Photo by Patricia Gomes
The Winner
of AVQ's First
Annual Chapbook Contest
The cover photo says it all.  This is the end, people.  We tried, really we did, to make some long-needed changes to AVQ, but time became our enemy.  Kristi and I have myriad projects going on in real-time, and
something's gotta go.  For us, it has to be Adagio Verse Quarterly.

AVQ has been a labor of love for nearly a decade.  We've met some truly amazing writers, published hundreds of them, but the time has come to move on to other destinations.  For me, it's Trader Rat Press.  There, getting its web site up and running, and finally focusing on my own poetry.  Kristi, who's asked me to say her goodbyes, is already off on other writing ventures.  She's been my right arm all these years, it's ever so much easier to say goodbye to her here than over the phone.

Poets.  Mega-talent graces the pages of the last issue: Bishop, Moore, Ridenour.  Click the Poets Page to read them all.  We're also publishing one poem each from the four Honorable Mentions (Joseph Armstead, Josh Olsen, Ruth Sabath Rosenthal, and Robert Barboza) of our recent contest, and one from the winning chapbook written by Judith Skillman.

Book review:  Poet/author LB Sedlacek reviews US Poet Laurete Kay Ryan's’ The Niagra River.  Drop him an e-mail to let him know he's appreciated.  As fellow writers, it's nice to know we're appreciated, don't you agree?

Shutting down AVQ is one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make.  I'd always imagined it as being a huge relief, but letting go never really is.  We've had a good run together, haven't we?  Let me say goodbye now.  I think the best way for me to do this is to use the ol' Band-aid approach and just ....
YANK!
