The dangers of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons

A webring for people who are curios to know if there is any danger in playing Advanged Dungeons and Dragons (AD&DII). If your site says "it is bad" or "it is evil", of if your site says "nothing wrong with it" or "sinner, not the sin", or any such comment on either AD&DII or any other roleplaying game or fantasy game or about roleplaying in general... this is one ring you should join.

Some say it is bad

For many years now many church groups (and one or two non-church groups) have preached against the game AD&DII and similar games. They say it is evil. They say it is satanic. Some don't say that, but they do warn it may cause suicide or drug abuse or occult involvement or depression or a host of other affects.

They may be right. Let's here what they have to say.

Some say it is only a game

As soon as the church went out against the game, many people stood up for it. Some who stood up for the game were christians, some were non-christians or other people. Some say the game can be healthy. Some say we have to be careful, but should not be scared. Some don't want to get involved in the debate.

These people may have come points to ponder. Let's hear them, then.

Some say we confuse the issue

Most christians believe that it is God that "saves" them, not the fact that they refrained from doing this or that. Perhaps this is the issue... and not "is it good or bad to play it". Some people feel we should focus on other matters and look at things from a fresh point of view.

Who knows? Perhaps there is a bit of truth in all these thoughts.

Why bother to join?

If your site contributes to the debate, please join our webring. It does not matter if you are pro-AD&DII or anti-AD&DII, or if you want to give a balanced view or a fresh view on things... if you have comment on the game (or similar games or passtimes), this ring is one of the rings you should join.

Remember, people who surf these rings sometimes look for a wide range of things. Perhaps they don't realise that your site is what they really should have a look at... and they'll never go look for your site otherwise. But here they will happen upon it.

Then this ring is one of the rings you should join.
