Hello again friends of the buffalo,
Hope everyone was able to catch 'Buffalo Wars' on Nightline (ABC)last
night. There is a link on the ABC web site for manuscripts and
video
as well as a comment page, if you were unable to see it:
http://abcnews.go.com/onair/nightline/NightlineIndex.html
There's also a message Board at this site with folks discussing the
Bison issue.
you can also, always, check our site for updates:

The Department of Livestock is out RIGHT NOW hazing the bull on
snowmobiles and with cracker barrel rounds on this beautiful Thursday
morning after last night's national media coverage of their
irresponsible behavior!! The bull is being forced to use up precious
energy reserves trying to run from the chaos. There won't even
be
any cattle in this area for 3 months.
Many people have responded to last night's program and are appalled
at Montana's continued insistence to slaughter zero risk animals such
as this lone bull who is grazing just outside of Yellowstone National
Park.
You CAN help! Please, write your feelings and send them to your
local and national papers, members of Congress, Governor Racicot and
President Clinton. The Yellowstone buffalo are a heritage for future
generations, activate your voice. These are NOT Montana's buffalo.
It is pressure from all citizens that will force Governor Racicot and
the state of Montana to end this senseless harassment and slaughter
of the Yellowstone herd. Here's link is a listing of other important
political figures to target with your views:

If your opinion/editorials are printed - please let us know...we are
always happy to provide further background if requested, as well as
still photos to accompany opinion/letters to the editor.
Just to clear up any miscommunication, the investigative report on
this issue done by Bill Kurtis entitled, "War on The Range" covering
the BFC and the Yellowstone buffalo, is to aire on AomatiE, will be
Thursday, February 24th NOT February 10th.
Thank you...for the buffalo,
Tiffany Brown

Some quotes from the ABC Nightline News Program
MICHAEL FINLEY; Superintendent of Yellowstone National Park:
" we
view them as wildlife. The public views them as wild animals. I think
the Montana Department of Livestock views them as overgrown cattle,
and a nuisance at best."
DON BARRY, ASSISTANT SECRETARY DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR: "There's not
a
single documented example of where bison have been proven to have
transmitted in the wild brucellosis to cattle." omati "My personal
feeling is that it's time for Montana to move on and to abandon old
thinking. This is the approach that was used in the '50s. It was used
in the '60s. It was used in the '70s. We've all learned a lot since
then."

YELLOWSTONE BUFFALO NOT ALLOWED TO ROAM
HELENA, Montana, February 9, 2000 (ENS) - The future of the one of the
largest and healthiest herds of buffalo left in the United States may
be
decided in the coming months. Federal and state agencies are hammering
out a
long term management plan for the Yellowstone National Park herd, and
the
final version is likely to include significant restrictions on the
numbers
and movements of this wild herd.
