I don't know how to send any kind of alerts but I have
become aware of a dangerous situation.  About 3 years ago I
agreed to help Channel Four - an English tv crew, film
something on Kennewick Man. I thought they were going
to do a balanced report and when it came out it greatly
favored James Chatters and the anthros who were trying to
break NAGPRA. They simply showed Indians dancing and not
much on why the tribes opposed testing and handing the
remains over to the scientists. At the time I told them to
check out the basic facts of science -the AAA resolution
sent to the Bureau of the Census stating that it was
IMPOSSIBLE to determine race via scientific testing. I
begged them to read Stephen Jay Gould's THE  MIS-MEASURE OF
MAN which gave the racist background of skull measurements.
They wouldn't do a thing - they had already determine it
was "European" - a claim which was false from the beginning.
Today I received an inquiry from one of their writers saying
they were doing a tv show to publicize Shepherd Krech's book
THE ECOLOGICAL INDIAN - another attack on Indians. What
these people have against Indians, being from England, I
couldn't begin to imagine. However they will lead other
unwary people into their web unless lots of Indians know
about them in time.
If there is any way you can help me get this message out I
would appreciate it.
