Subject: Update on Buffalo/Boycott of Montana
Hello Everyone.
I received this (below) e-mail from Renee, as did some of
you. I have a suggestion that I would like you all to mull
over and see what you think:
I have put a large neon pink poster board sign in my car's
rear window saying "BOYCOTT MONTANA BEEF"
in large
black letters, with my e-mail address and Tiffany Brown's
address (she is part of the Buffalo Field Campaign) hoping
that if someone sees this sign and wonders what it is
about, they will e-mail either her or me to ask.
***In my opinion, a sign in a car saying "Boycott Montana
Beef" will be much more eye-catching and cause more interest
than one saying simply "Boycott Montana." BECAUSE 99% of all
the people in this country eat beef. IF they have not seen
or heard anything about what is going on with the buffalo
wondering into Montana ... at least the word "BEEF" will
spark their interest. They would possibly wonder, "Is
Montana beef unsafe to eat?" and be more likely to pursue
an answer. If a sign would just say "Boycott Montana"...I
just don't think that would spark as many people's interest
nearly as much, if even at all.
FIRST we have to make people aware of what is happening to
the buffalo. We need to spark their interest.
Renee is totally correct in what she says. ALL of Montana
should be boycotted. We all have to come up with the most
effective ways to accomplish this.
PLEASE get back to me with your opinions, or any other
suggestions.
Sincerely,
Dianne Howard
[KOLA Note: Tiffany Brown of Buffalo Field Campaign
endorsed this action.]

For those of you who may have missed the Nightline expose'
of the Buffalo slaughter in Montana, please note:
New-there is going to be another program on TV Feb. 24 on
A&E on same subject.
Please pass the word. Me-Gwitch, Renee
***Also, we have decided after discussion with many other
groups to boycott the entire state of Montana. The reasons
for doing this became obvious almost immediately. Targeting
just the beef/cattle industry is just simply not effective.
By boycotting the entire state, we will have a broader
impact, Montana products/tourism easier to identify and
other areas of the state may actually put additional
pressure on the governor and cattlemen to end this atrocity.
BOYCOTT MONTANA!!! If there are organizations out
there
that could possibly afford to purchase advertising, or
billboards at the entrance to Montana from adjoining states,
asking to honor the boycott that would be just outstanding.
Please continue to write to your congressmen and to forward
this information to everyone possible. Keep the letters
going to local newspapers, local radio talk shows (call in
and bring the subject up!), public television talk shows -
everywhere!
We welcome any ideas you may have on how to make this as
effective as possible. This is an open forum on positive
ideas for positive results. We must circulate the info and
make sure this picks up steam. It will take time and
determination, but we need to stay focused and make sure we
FOLLOW THROUGH. Words mean nothing if we don't back them
up.
Me-Gwitch,
Renee
