Census Road Trip Stops In Rapid City

Their goal is to make sure you stand up and be counted... and being counted
means money in the bank. The Census 2000 van made its way to Rapid City
today(2/19)... its fourth stop on a sixty day tour. They plan to educate
people on the importance of filling out and sending back census forms. They
say money will be lost if people don't participate, because federal funding
for every state depends on population. The Census van has canceled their
scheduled stop in pine ridge tomorrow. George Martelton from the Census
office in Denver says the stop was most likely cancelled as a precaution,
because of the occupation at the tribal building in Pine Ridge.
