Subject: Global Warming/Climate Change Seminar--Feb. 25 & 26

February 24, 2000

Dear Friends,

The Akwe:kon Press and Native Americas Journal would like to invite
you to a Global Warming/Climate Change panel discussion on the
Cornell University campus on February 25 and 26, 2000.  This program
is free and open to the public.

This panel discussion will feature guest speakers including Oren
Lyons and John Mohawk; NASA scientist Nancy Maynard; attorney and
researcher Robert Gough; and publisher and writer Tim Johnson.
Featured speakers will meet at the Townhouse Community Center on
Cornell University at 7:30 PM Friday, February 25 to provide an
overview of global warming/climate change issues and concerns with
both a Native American perspective and NASA science research.  The
Saturday program will commence at 10:00 AM in the Robert Purcell
Union, First Floor, with the full set of panelists discussing a range
of themes including Native prophecy; Native responses and solutions
to help mitigate climate change and maintain balance with the Earth
and NASA collaborations with Native communities.

We hope you will be able to join us for this important forum, the
subject of which is shaping up to be the 21st Century's greatest
challenge.  For more information call Leslie Logan or Mar Perez at
(607) 255-4308 or check out our website at
http://www.nativeamericas.com. The final program schedule will be
available on the webpage on February 22, 2000.

Sincerely,

José Barreiro
