Lecture schedule set for Red Earth's American Indian Women: Art & Soul
January 23- May 3, 2000

Red Earth, founder of America's Largest Native American Festival, and Red
Earth's Museum invite the public to attend the American Indian Women "Art
and Soul' lecture series in Red Earth Museum, located at the Omniplex, 2100
N.E. 52" Street, Oklahoma City, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on February 2, March 26
and April 6. Admission is free. Through frank and open discussions, guest
speakers will focus on health, social and educational issues of today's

Sunday, February 27, 2000 - Health issues discussed will include:

Cherokee Ballard, KOCO Ch. 5 - Keynote Speaker Linda Podaw - Diabetes/Heart Disease
Dana Tiger - Parkinson's disease Lisa Tiger - AIDS/HIV
Ester Crowder - Women's Health Care
Dr. Sandra Choney - "Faces of Change" focusing on women and behavioral
health Dr. Johanna Clevenger - 'Faces of Change" focusing on diabetes and

Juanita Pahdopony - Comanche Women's past and present roles and their contributions
Eula Mae Doonkeen - The American Indian Women's roles at home, work,
government and keeping the traditions alive
Mike Snyder - Domestic violence and services available for aid
Dr. Virginia Sutter - American Indian Women's Leadership Roles
Sunday, April 30, 2000-Education issues discussed will include:

Alfreda Woodward-Education requirements for the allied health field
Lillian Williams-Boarding Schools
Connie Hart Yellowman-Historic Preservation Through Anthropology
Sandra Poolaw-Native American Women In Fields of Technology
Terry Mason Moore
Red Earth's goal is to educate and support the American Indian woman on
domestic issues facing them today.

To view the art exhibit during regular museum hours, one admission price is
required into the 10-acre museum complex providing access to the Red Earth
Museum and all other attractions located inside.

The "Art and Soul" exhibit is funded in part by the Oklahoma Art Council. If
