 Salway Suspends Tribal Council Members

Thirteen Oglala Lakota Sioux Tribal Council members are now on suspension.
Tribal President Harold Salway ordered the suspension, claiming the council
held illegal meetings without his approval.

Council members say according to tribal law, Salway does not have the
authority to suspend anyone on the council. Council member Gerald Big Crow
says Salway is out of order in this suspension. The tribal council is
waiting for a ruling from their chief judge to determine if they can
actually be kept on suspension.
