History
The Philomathean Society was founded at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia in 1852 by Mary Ann DuPont (Lines), Mary Elizabeth Myrick (Daniel), and Martha Bibb Hardaway (Redding).  In 1904 the Philomathean Society established itself as a national fraternity for women calling itself Phi Mu Fraternity.

The Alpha Epsilon chapter of Phi Mu was chartered in 1929 at the Florida State College for Women, later to become Florida State University.  The chapter's beautiful Greek Revival house at 823 West Jefferson was built in the early 1950's and has undergone several additions and remodeling projects over the years since.  It still houses Phi Mu collegians and welcomes AE alumnae "home" whenever they are in Tallahassee.

There are currently 170 active Alpha Epsilon collegians at Florida State and approximately 1,500 living Alpha Epsilon alumnae throughout the U.S. and overseas.

The Alpha Epsilon Chapter Association was founded in 2007 to reconnect both alumnae and collegians and continue to share our bond of sisterhood.

The current executive board is:

Kristin Billingslea, President
Lindsay Everson, Co-Vice President
Stacey Sandler Hawes, Co-Vice President
Renee Poklemba, Treasurer
Melanie Moore, Secretary
