North vs South Tourney
Please read over all rules carefully,
most sections were modified on Jan 12, 2002
Pairings:

The first round pairings have been drawn.  Starting with round 2, pairings will be based on the points system listed below.  No two players will battle each other twice, unless they are tied for first place at the end of the tourney.  Click on the current round at the bottom to see the pairings.  I shall leave all pairing up until the end, so everyone can see the who has battled who already.

Rounds:

There will be 5 rounds.  Each round will last approximately 3-4 weeks.  All rounds must be finished on time in order to set up the next round of battle.  So please try to finish your battles early.  If you do not complete your round by the end date, I will have to make a decision, either a draw, one player is AWOL, or both are AWOL (this is why I need you to E-mail me when you make your first contact with your opponent).  I am allowing a little extra time for round 1 so all the bugs in this system can be worked out before round 2 starts.  The order of battles are as follows:
Round #    Battle Name    Start/End Dates

Round 1 - Challenge 3      1-12-02/2-9-02
Round 2 - Challenge 5      2-11-02/3-3-02
Round 3 - Challenge 7      3-7-02/4-4-02
Round 4 - Challenge 9      4-8-02/5-6-02
Round 5 - Duel 2 a          5-10-02/6-10-02

Battle Times:

When you E-mail your opponent to arrange a time to battle, send the E-mail to your opponent and
support@goldenaxeladder.com.  This will help determine AWOL players.

(If you would put your player name and your opponent's name in the subject, along with the round #, it would be
very helpful to me.  For example, from me to my first round opponent:  Subj: Aero8 vs JBs Body3, Round 1)

E-mail:

Here is a link directly to the
tourney sign up.  All player's E-mails should be posted on it.

Battles:

In each round, one and only one battle is to be played.  Since this is a North vs South tourney, and battles that are as close to even as possible are being used, there should be no need or desire to play each battle in each round 2 times (once as each side)

Winner:

The winning side and player will be determined by points.  After the 5th round is completed, points will be totaled and the side with the most points wins.  If 2 players are tied for first place after the 5th round, they will play another battle to determine the winner, no additional points will be earned in this battle to determine the winning side.

Points:

All players will start with 0 points and will earn points by how they do in each round.  The points system is as follows:
Major Victory - 5 Points
Minor Victory - 4 Points
Draw             - 3 Points
Minor Defeat  - 2 Points
Major Defeat  - 1 Point
AWOL           - 0 Points

Determining Victory Level:

CWG 2 will determine the victory for each battle, unless a player is AWOL for the battle.  If a player is AWOL during a round, their opponent will get a Major Victory, and the points for a Major Victory.

Ladder:

All battles will be played for the Axe Ladder as well.

Rules:

Make sure you and your opponent know and understand all rules before beginning your round. The rules are explained in great detail on this
page.  You and your opponent may agree to different rules than is posted, but you BOTH must agree to those terms BEFORE the battle begins.

Surrendering:

If you surrender a battle, you will get a Major Defeat and your opponent will get a Major Victory.  Also, if you surrender a battle, you must report it to the Axe Ladder as a Major Defeat

Brackets:

If I spelled your CWG 2 name wrong on the brackets page, don't shoot me, just let me know, it won't take me long to fix it.

Questions:

If you have any questions about any part of this tourney: rules, pairings, battles, times, etc,
E-mail me.  I'll gladly answer them, and if it appears I have not explained something well on this page, I will explain it better in the Updates section below.

Updates:

This page should not be updated much if any.  If it is, all updates from now on will be listed down here, no matter what section they may apply to.

Downloads:  The Challenge series battles are on Butler's site.  If you are having trouble finding the battles on Butler's site, go to JJ's site, he has the series on his downloads page.  (There are 10 Challenge battles all in 1 Zip file, it is listed between 2/3 and 3/4 of the way down the page.  Dual 2 a can be found here.

Results: Due to many requests, I am going to post the current standing, as best I can.  Please Check the standings.  I know someone told me on WON they had a draw, but either they did not E-mail the results to me, or the E-mail has been lost.  So please let me know if you have finished, but your results are not posted, or are posted incorrectly.  Also, to determine the results, look at the number beside each player, rather than type Major Win, I will just use the point value that is associated.  I hope that doesn't confuse anyone....

Prizes:  The Warfare Center/Golden Axe Ladder has donated 2 games for the winners of the tourney:
1. Strategy Hall of Fame game pack (includes Axis & Allies, Panzer Generals II, Army Men, Alpha Cetauri)
2. Europa Universalis II (Real Time Strategy)

Since I have 2 prizes to give away.... The general with the most points from each side will get a prize.  The general with the most points after round 5 (Yank or Reb) will get first choice of the 2 games.  The general with the most points on the opposite side will get the other game.  And the side with the most points after round 5, wins the war.
