Three-fourths of everything I write never makes it past a simple excerpt. I get out my ideas by scribbling down scenes in my head or writing summaries that, if they're very lucky, eventually flesh out more on the page. Otherwise, my files are full of excerpts of stories that I discarded after ten minutes with them. I consider nothing to be my best work because nothing has ever really been finished. Except for the poems, but as poetry isn't really my forte, I don't expect much of them and neither should you. Since I haven't thrown everything away, I guess I must have liked something about the things that I wrote, and I hope other people can find something to like about them too.
