Nightmare

Young and fearful, hidden under a bed,
Wary of the devils that lurk outside,
the demons that dance inside my head,
I lay, waiting and still, so terrified.
My eyes burnt in my imagination
My ears launched into a fairyland
Lost and surrounded, alienation
In the shadows does lurk the fear at hand.
While my heart sits colder than a snow cone
Pumping frost and freeze underneath my skin
Though I feel this nightmare crushing my bone
I force myself deaf to this evil din
And break so fast down the blackened hallway,
The comfort of my parents room, I’ll stay.

??Role Model Orb

Changes, slow and subtle, we see at night
Phases taken by a vault of heaven
From darkness to a glowing crescent bright
Managing the stages over again.
Three days since and the first quarter is here
To rival the flashlight set by a star,
Still half of the whole has nothing to fear
Complete transformation is yet afar.
Phase aside, sickle and gibbous waning,
Ever changing above, but still the Moon
Modifications that need no planning,
Could we but mirror these ideals soon,
Despite the changes and stay yet the same
Improving on a familiar plane.
