After the Waitohi visit, we drove onto Timaru Airport, where the Richard Pearse Centenary of Flight airshow was being held. I have to say they put on an excellent airshow. A hangar was set aside for displaying Pearse-related material. Unfortunately, it was a victim of its own success - as the hangar was quite crowded, the layout not helping with crowd flow either. A number of interesting models were to be seen. This one is a static model made by Ron Roberts and it's of the 1903 Pearse Aeroplane, as built by SCAHC group in Timaru. The model had a number of nicely "faked" photos with it showing the model in flight. Here is one of them. Hopefully more will follow.
