SYMPOSIUM ON THE USE OF GROUND WATER FOR AGRICULTURE IN SRI LANKA

We are pleased to announce that the Agricultural Engineering Society of Sri Lanka (AESSL) together with the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture (PGIA) and Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya has successfully organized a symposium on "The Use of Groundwater for Agriculture in Sri Lanka" on the 30th September 2002. The objective of this symposium was to document the research findings in this field from 1990 (The first symposium organized by the AESSL, ODA and PGIA held in 1990 compiled the information up to 1990 in the proceedings titled "Irrigation and Water Resources"), and also to provide a forum to identify future needs and trends in ground water use for Agriculture in Sri Lanka.

More than hundred  scientists, researchers, students and administrators have participated in this symposium. Even though we planned to publish the proceedings in advance, we were unable to do so due to unforeseen difficulties. A copy of the proceeding will be mailed to all the paid participants once it is printed. We regret any inconvenience caused.

There are
11 research papers covering various aspects of ground water uses in Sri Lanka. If you are interested to obtain a copy of the proceedings, please send your name and contact information together with a fee of Rs.200.00 (Rs.150.00 for members) as cheque or money order drawn in favour of the Treasurer/AESSL.
