From: Col. Aguilar, Consulting Curator, AFP Musuem
"For us in the military history community, Alberto "Bert" Anido is such a big loss. His energy in supporting projects that would enhance people's appreciation for military history is very inspiring.
He is truly one person I admire for his commitment to the endeavor he loves. He has been very helpful to me since I first met him in 1996 while in the process of establishing the AFP Museum.
When I was in Bataan as the CO, 24th IB, I organized a show that tried to integrate the various medium of military history -- pictorials, scale model exhibit, film showing, a semblance of period uniform (costume) display and military vehicle show. Bert was there, making a sacrifice of an early morning trip from Manila just to give his support to the project. It turned out well that it earned the admiration by the people of Bataan.
Lately, he was happy to learn that I became the Army Chief Historian and Director, Army Museum. Bert had hoped to be of help to the new activity.
I hope that the tribute to name the Diliman Chapter of the IPMS Philippines after this great man will be realized soon. I did not have the chance to see him for the last time in his mortal remains.
Maybe God had it so, that I will always remember Bert in his best of health. In my mind right now, he remains forever alive. So long Bert, I offer you prayers for your eternal repose and give you my best salute."

From Abet Anido, son and modeler; Tue May 27, 2003
Hi everyone,
Thanks to all who sent their condolences to me and my family, and I most
appreciate the guys who braved the very bad weather to view my dad for the
very last time last night. Sorry I was not able to spend much time with
you guys, as I had to talk to the many people who came. I did not realize
that he had many friends who cared for him - his relatives, co-workers,
students, military pilots, fellow hobbyists, etc. Many thanks for the
support - it means a lot to me.
You know, my dad gets very tired easily (physically and mentally) from
work, etc. but he was always looking forward to attending the Sunday
meetings of IPMS. Sometimes in the past he would even invite the guys to
come to the house for merienda and just talk about kits. Anything related
to the hobby of model kits and actual aircraft really made his day, and I
am very pleased that his last week was a week of great fun for him.
He went to Fernado air base for the flying school homecoming, we flew in a
Beechcraft Baron twin-engine light plane to Basa and Clark air bases, and
when we landed in Manila, had a test flight/joy ride on an Agusta 109
Power helicopter. Those trips to military bases and flights in aircraft
really made his week.
So, after all the fun he had, and as well as being very tired all the time,
I guess he wanted to finally rest na. He will be with his father and my
brother, who he very badly misses.
Abet
