Showcasing the basketball skills and potential of 10 Nigerian talented amateur basketball players from North Nigeria, all between 16 and 18 years old and eager for recruitment in a basketball scholarship program in USA and European colleges and universities. In certain cases, professional contract may be possible if contract can allow for concurrent college education. -----------------------

Videotaped on 19 March 2003
Location:
In Kano, North Nigeria on Kano Pillars basketball court.
Duration of tape:
75 minutes including 60 minutes of individual training and lay-ups
(average 6 minutes of training per player) followed by a 15-minute
practice game (five on each side)
Target audience:
US and European High Schools, Colleges and Universities Team Managers, and Coaches. We will not accommodate to agents who will want a tape simply for signing the players for representation. Professional team coaches are actually welcome to make offers on condition of allowing the player to continue education in a local school in the vicinity of the club offering to recruit him.

Participating
Players
Ages: Ranges from 16 to 18.
Teams: Four teams - The Kano Pillars, the AHIP Giants, the Jigawa Stars and the Jigawa Rocks
Status of players: Unique to our tape -- No professional players are included. None of the players is in a major playing position because of age. They are freshly recruited and in junior team set-ups, at best reserve players, and thus available for joining college / university at any time.
Agency / Representation: No agents as far as we know. We also do not represent them ourselves. You ask for them, you pick them, you sign them. As simple as that.
Positions: All positions (centers, guards, forwards)
Assembled: The 10 players were hand-picked for this video tape by a senior player in the Kano Pillars, Hussaini Musa Gumel out of his personal experience and knowledge of the new talents around in his area.
Educational level: All fresh from Secondary school education or in their final year. All fluent in English.
Main purpose of players included: Their target is getting recruited to colleges and universities -- not professional play. This suits us fine as we strongly discourage a pro career in detriment of education.
Because of their young age, their main interest is a full 4-year formal academic education coupled with a basketball scholarship, rather than professional international play for now.
Exception to the college/university policy: Accommodation for professional offers can be made if it is a very serious and reasonable offer and the inviting clubs agree explicitly to allow the players to continue their education in a local school concurrently with their team pro contract.
