SP4 Bagwell was attached to AFVN Hue from the 1st Cavalry Division. The station was expanding and the Cav was adding an extra radio voice to the permanent staff there. When AFVN'ers rushed out the door at the end of the firefight during Tet of 1968, he was able to make his way to a local Catholic church, where a local priest concealed him.
