Acy Oliver Delaughter Jr., 76, of Loveland CO died May 27, 2006, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.

He was born July 3, 1929, to Acy Delaughter Sr. and Eunice Lavine in Ponchatoula, La. He grew up and attended school in Ponchatula. He married Rachel Bath in Loveland on Nov. 6, 1949. She preceded him in death in 2001.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1944. He served in the military for 30 years, which took his family throughout the country. He retired as a First Sergeant in 1973 and returned to live in Loveland.

Delaughter was administrative NCO with AFVN - the American Forces Vietnam Network - in 1970 and 1971. AFVN military radio and television provided music, news and sports to American troops during the Vietnam War. Visit the AFVN Taps Page

He was a member of VFW Post 41, Retired Enlisted Association and the Disabled Veterans Association.

He is survived by his son, Terry Delaughter of Spokane, Wash.; a daughter, Connie Keller of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers and four sisters, all of Louisiana; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Loveland Burial Park. Allnutt Hunter Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
