We started pitching at the Martinsville City Park. We built the courts and moved to the Morgan County Fairgrounds in 1953 joining the AHPA. Some of the beginners were Peck Anderson, Marvin Maxwell, Layman Neal, Chet Burnett, Duane Lemons, Dick Anderson, Doc Stiles, Don Walls and there were probably others I've missed. It took a great effort from those who helped build and start the AHPA in Martinsville.
