Alamo Rocketeers
Gillespie Farms - February 12, 2005 - Photo Album
The Sweetheart Launch was a success despite the harsh weather forecast. Let that be a lesson to those who let a few clouds keep them from having a good time. A light drizzle just before the launch ensured there would be no danger of a wild fire at Gillespie Farms. We should be this lucky all the time.

The temperature was a pleasant 68 degrees but the winds were brisk, gusting to about 15 mph. Several rockets landed in trees but all except Juan Bazan's Baby Bertha were recovered. We should have sung "Rock-a-by Baby", then the bough would break and down would come Baby (Bertha), parachute and all. :) That was a long way to go for a laugh.

During the launch we got to test a new 4 position launch controller. It worked flawlessly.

There were 3 rocketers making 29 flight total. 8 folks in total attended the launch including Matt Singer from New York, NY and Alec Soth from Minneapolis, MN. Alec is doing a photographic art project and thought our launch and it participants were good subjects. The launch wrapped up just after 2 PM. Thanks to everyone for pitching in to packing up the equipment.

After the launch we retired to a great little Chinese/Mexican Resturant on the south side of SA. I don't know the name or address because Ken made us come in the back way. The Mongolian Beef is excellent.
Flights by Impulse: A - 8, B - 8, C - 2, D - 4, E - 6, F - 1
Thanks to Ken Gillespie for allows us to fly on his property and thanks to everyone attending for pitching in to setup and pick up.
