Forgive and Forget - Is It Really Possible? |
Matthew 6:14,15 FORGIVE and FORGET! Is this really possible? Has God really asked us to do something that is impossible to do? How many times have you , or heard someone say: Well, I've forgiven them, but I just can't forget. My dear friends, if this is you, I've got a revelation for you: You are still living in unforgiveness according to God's word if you have not forgotten. Let us first realize, that God's word is spiritual, and the only way to walk in His word is by the SPIRIT. Remember , that when Jesus was hanging on the cross at calvary; prior to His giving up the ghost said these awesome words: FATHER FORGIVE THEM! When you forgive someone, you are actually pardoning them of the wrong they did to you. Please remember this: Forgiving someone, is not telling them that what they did was ok; because it wasn't. It releases any bitterness that you have been harboring within yourself, and allows God to do a mighty work in that persons life. Without forgiving, there is no healing. Let us not doubt, that pain is pain. The only way to forgive and forget God's way; is to read what God says about it, and ask Him by the power of the Holy Spirit to help you do His will. Mt. 5:14 tells us to Love our enemies, and to pray for those who persecute us. Happy are those who's greatest desire is to do what God requires; for God will satisfy them FULLY! Happy are those who are merciful; for God will be merciful to them. Happy are those who work for peace; for God will call them his children. Happy are you when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of evil lies against you; be happy and glad, for a great reward is kept for you in Heaven. Hurt cannot get in unless you open the door; nor can hurt get out if you close the door. Jesus told us not to take revenge on someone who has hurt you. Vengence is mine says the LORD. We were told how to pray by Jesus as He said: Forgive us our sins, AS WE FORGIVE, those who sin against us. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Bottom line is that, if we do not forgive, we are not forgiven. We have redemption through the Blood of Jesus Christ, the forgiveness of sins. If we do not forgive and forget; we are telling God that our bitterness is greater than the Blood of Jesus. Forgetting those things which are behind; and reaching forward to those things which are before; I press toward the mark. Unto HIM who LOVED us and washes us in HIS BLOOD to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. God is LOVE; and LOVE does not keep an account of the wrong that is done to it. LOVE sees the best in every person. LOVE is kind; not rude. LOVE is not selfish. LOVE is more concerned about others, rather than self. My dear friends; if the LORD who is everthing can forgive; who are we to think for a moment that we are greater than HIM? Alan D Mays 1 Co. 15:10 JESUS CHRIST IS LORD |
