Although during some parts of the year the scene as one crosses the Black Warrior into Tuscaloosa on the Hugh Thomas is picturesque, the area of Northport just under the bridge is something of a dead zone right now.

The Hugh is by no means the first bridge to connect the downtown areas of Tuscaloosa with downtown Northport.
