| Several of the original twists and turns US 82 took thru west Alabama have survived in Tuscaloosa and Pickens Counties. In Pickens these loops are signed Co. Hwy 30. |

| This section of Co. 30 runs thru the community of Coal Fire and has street sign designation as Coal Fire Circle. It is thew least maintained of the segments of old 82 in Pickens Co. Until the late 1980s, Tuscaloosa Co. 1 (thru Buhl and Coker) looked the same. The original concrete highway under the macadam in Tuscaloosa made the ride noticeably bumpier, however. |
