| 12/14/08- LINCOLN OUTPACES SANDCRABS, HEADED TO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Lincoln won its 8th game in a row this season, defeating Daytona Beach Seabreeze 30-12 at Gene Cox Stadium Friday night in the Class 4A State Semifinals. The win sends Lincoln to its first state championship game since 2001 when the Trojans defeated St. Thomas Aquinas for the 4A crown. While the Trojans had the lead the entire night, the game was not in hand until the final moments of the 4th quarter. Lincoln went into the half with a 17-6 lead after a dominating performance, but Seabreeze put a push in the second half, closing the gap to 17-12. Threatening to score again, Seabreeze was finally halted when the Trojan defense intercepted a pass in the endzone. Another interception late in the game would set up the final score of 30-12. Seabreeze ends the season with an 8-6 record and an incredible postseason run, despite losing their starting quarterback during the opening game of the season. Lincoln will be in action one final time, this upcoming Saturday in the Citrus Bowl where they'll take on Tampa Plant for the 2008 Class 4A State Championship. |
