Marbled hatchet fish almost always swim around at the very top of the tank, just under the surface of the water. (You can easily see their reflection from the surface in these two photos). They have very thin, deep bodies that somewhat resemble a hatchet, hence the name. Their pectoral fins come outward from their body like wings.
