| A lot of wartime photos showed Japanese troops dressed in lightweight uniforms designed for wear in countries with hotter climate. In Singapore, this was none farther than the truth. Here is a detailed walkthrough of what the ordinary Japanese Infantry soldier would have worn when he set foot on Singapore soil for the next 3 years and 8 months. | Combat leather belt - This was issued to every single soldier. Due to material shortages, Rubberized and even canvas versions of it were manufactured during the late war stages. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Front ammo pouches - Every soldier carried 2 of these front ammo pouches during combat. It was made of brown leather (sometimes even black) and held 30 Arisaka rounds and fastened with 2 side straps running from the top. | Bayonet frog - This leather bayonet frog held the Type 30 bayonet and steel scabbard together. With all the other equipment listed, it completed the basic field gear of the WW2 Japanese Infantryman and it was worn on the soldier’s left side. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
