The Hudson Memorial Church

History: ... Under preparation

This beautiful church was being restored under the Pastorship of Rev. . He was kind enough to allow me to photograph the process of restoration, and he had to come from the CSI Compound to the church only to meet me. Rev. is a very happy man, that the challenge he took up was successful.

This Church is located very near where the Cenotaph Memorial was erected, and in fact the road was called Cenotaph Road, till in 1965 when some political hooligans tore down the Memorial in the name of Kempagowda's statue being covered from view. It is unfortunate that this was done, because the Memorial was also dedicated to some of the Indian soldiers who fought against Tippu Sultan when his Fort was captured. A note on this can be found at the 'Forgotten Soldiers' page. Apparently only a broken piece of one slab was located by Suresh Moona, a well known historian of Bangalore who likes to bring the history of the city to all through his numerous articles in the Deccan Herald and other publications.

Here are the photographs I took out during the restoration. I new need to go back and take a few since the church has been restored absolutely to its original glory.

Thought for the Day:" Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, For you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh. Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man's sake. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven, Fon in the manner their fathers did to the prophets. But woe to you who are rich, For you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full, For you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, For you shall mourn and weep. Woe to you when all men speak well of you, For so did they fathers to the false prophets." Holy Bible: Luke 6:20-26
