Quotes
Jonathan could not bear to watch the first "Anne" miniseries on television because he was "too scared":
"My friends have been great about all this. When Anne came on, I saw a bit of it and then hid in my room. As it was showing, my friends kept calling with good criticism. It isn't a big thing with my friends. No question about me not being invited to the prom because I was suddenly this actor. I want to keep it that way."
"My lips were quivering and I was terrified of close-ups. An epileptic Gilbert! When the scene was done Colleen whispered, 'You're wonderful!' We went out to dinner that night and she told me so much about acting. She [was] a wonderful teacher."
"I was so nervous. I was terrified. [I came] straight off singing a song on a high school stage [and into the film industry]."
"[Casting Director] Diane [Polley]... asked me to try out for 'Anne.' Kevin Sullivan had someone else in mind but she hustled me to see him. I hadn't read the 'Anne' books, so I asked my school friends what sense they had of Gilbert. Sounded good to me."
The quotes I've found up to this point are from around the time of the filming of the first Anne movies. As soon as I find some more quotes, I'll put them up here, but all I've been able to find has been on the Anne series.

Anne Related Questions
Did you relizes the impact the Anne series would have when you filmed them?
At the time I was so nervous I just wanted not to embarrass myself. I didn't know the lasting impact the series would have.
About the scene in Anne2 when Anne decides to sell DOlly (when she and Diana fall into the mud), was you're hitting Megan in the script or was it your idea of a prank?
It was written in the script that 'Gilbert thwacks (or some word like that) Anne'
Do you ever get sick of hearing about the Anne movies?
No, it's great to hear how so many people enjoyed them.
Do you have a favorite Anne movies or scene from one of them?
-Megan and I had a great time doing the bike race.
-The first scene I ever did was with Marilla on the bridge-I'll remember that fondly.
Do you have a least favorite movie or scene?
Not a least favorite, but I do remember some really cold days shooting in a meadow in November.
What did you first think of Gilbert when you first read the script?
I appreciated and understood why he was so crazy about Anne
How are you most like Gilbert?
I actually enjoy school and academic studies (I still take classes at university)
How are you most unlike Gilbert?
I'm not a great horseback rider
What did you think when you first watched the movie?
I found it kind of hard to watch myself, but I was knocked out by Megan's preformance
If there were blooper reels from the movies, what would we see on them?
Many, many line goofs and Megan and I cracking each other up!
Funniest thing(s) to happen on the sets?
Maybe our dancing (Waltzing) lessons (I'm pretty unco-ordinated)
How was filming Anne3 different from the first two?
It was much later and not entirely based on the books so it was a little scarier.
What was it like working with Megan, Patricia, Schuylar, Colleen and Richard?
They were all amazing and so supportive. Colleen really helped me get over my nerves
Was the slate rigged to break?/Did it take many takes to do that scene?
Yes/ only two or three
Did it hurt?
No, so the director had to tell me to act more 'hurt' when it hit me.
Had you read any of the Anne books before filming/Have you read any since?
No, I read them when I got the role.
Do you prefer theater or screen work better?
I love them both, but I think theater is where I feel more at home and have probably done my best work.
