INTRODUCTION
Tupasy
is the first stage of a far-reaching global project whilst
the second one will start departing from Río Bermejo and take into
account the adequate sailing vessel for
this stage since the depth of the river is shallow in most part of the trip.
Once the two above-described stages are actually accomplished, the
purpose of the third and last stage of this project is to sail Río Amazonas.
OBJECTIVE
Document
and unify two navigation types into one project for different communication
means . Phase I: cargo boats
(commercial navigation) – Phase II sailboats (sports navigation).
Navigate
the Paraná-Paraguay river route from Km 0 Bs.As. – Argentina up toKm 1630
Asunción - Km 2770 Corumbá (conditional) /Brasil.
MAIN
OBJECTIVE
Information
gathered through this experience will form into a whole with works already
carried out by different navigators, governmental entities and others which will
be loaded to a database for a future guide issue, following up with a logbook in
Internet for all those interested in this trip at global level.
Execution
date: February-May 2004
Stages:
1. Buenos Aires – Asunción (1630Km) -
Corumbá
(conditional) (2.770 km)
In
the first stage we will document life on board cargo boats which navigate very
often this section of the river. Later
on the information will be published in communications means via comments,
shootings, photos and Web page.
Proposed topics:
Life
on board a cargo boat, how to manage the boat, options and solutions, possible
alternatives, life experiences, daily life situations of the crew members,
organization on board - especially
of crew, solution of inconveniences, advantages and disadvantages of the life
style. Life stories.
End of this first stage:
Transfer and moor the sailboat
2. Corumbá (conditional) / Asunción - Buenos Aires
During
this stage we will gather information on different clubs/ports/ places/marinas
with their respective tides, bearings, depths, prevailing winds, sailing
tactics. Regional practices, myths
and legends, alternatives and sight-seeing for tourists, different ways of
transportation, regional cooking/food.
This
information will be published by an update in the logbook – Web page.
For an organized presentation of the planning, below is a description where the river route runs through which includes a wide region of the Paraguay, Bolivia, Brasil and Argentina frontiers. The Argentine provinces shown are Formosa, Chaco, Corrientes, Misiones, Entre Ríos, Santa Fe y Buenos Aires ending up at the Port of Buenos Aires.
