In my opinion, the only way the JLA would be viable as a live action movie
would be with the seven characters used in the current cartoon series. Disregarding
all of the legal hassles inherent with some of the characters, you get:
Superman
the Batman
Wonder Woman
Green Lantern
Flash
Hawkgirl/(Woman)
Martian Manhunter
For two reasons, I would use relative unknowns. The first reason is to
keep from bankrupting the production company with name celebrities, and the second
reason is to allow the character to be the star instead of the actor. So, without
further ado, here are my choices...
Superman: Victor Webster-Mutant X's Brennan Mulwray
Reason(s): Besides the obviousness of his appearance, VW has enough acting experience to
carry the role without being so well known that people will view the role as "fill
in the blank" playing Superman.
the Batman: Eric Lutes-Caroline in the City's Del Cassidy
Reason(s): While not the most obvious choice, Lutes has a comedic background. This
background provides him with exceptional timing. Lutes can carry off the suave,
debonair, yet snooty socialite. Also, he can generate a manic intensity that I feel
typifies the Batman's character.
Wonder Woman: Ali Landry-the Dorito's girl and Spy-TV host
Reason(s): Ali has the beauty and charm to portray the Princess of the mythic Amazons.
Plus she has the physical skills necessary to be a viable warrior.
Green Lantern: Robert Townsend-the Meteor Man and Up, Up, and Away creator
Reason(s): Townsend has the utmost love and respect for the medium. Given the
opportunity, he would play Green Lantern with every bit of the skill and talent he
possesses.
the Flash: Brendan Fehr-Roswell's Michael Guerin
Reason(s): The Flash is an edgy, high spirited character.
Fehr's performances in Roswell showed the range that he has while also proving he has the
youthful exuberance to be Wally West.
Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman: Natalie Raitano-V.I.P.'s Nikki Franco
Reason(s): On V.I.P., Raitano's Nikki Franco has "come to chew bubblegum and kick
butt, and she is all out of bubblegum." This is the attitude necessary for the
Hawk's character. She also has the needed physical attributes for the role.
Martian Manhunter: Mitch Pileggi-X-Files Assistant Director Walter Skinner, also Shocker's Horace Pinker
Reason(s): The Manhunter needs someone with a sense of cold detachment to properly play
him. The X-File's Mitch Pileggi fits the bill perfectly in my opinion.
Alternates For the following Characters
the Batman: Adrian Paul, Julian McMahon
Wonder Woman: Brooke Burke
Green Lantern: Dorian Gregory
Martian Manhunter: Ving Rhames, Tom "Tiny" Lister, Christopher Judge
