Coruscant was the political center for the Empire during the Emperor's Reign. It was also the seat of the old Republic, which housed the galactic senate, and the Jedi council. It is a world so developed, that it is completely covered with skyscrapers. Upon approach to the planet it glimmers a beautiful yellow as light reflects from atop the millions of buildings.
What looks like a busy downtown street here is actually the top of a huge building. Many of the skyscrapers, like this one, are so large, that it appears just to be a paved surface. This is what the entire planet looks like everywhere. There is nothing but developed cities encompassing the entire world.
Here, it is easy to see the many buildings that cover the planets surface. What looks at first like city blocks actually turns out to be the tops of buildings. A fall off of one of these buildings would be very unfortunate, as the buildings can be miles high.
This is the famous Imperial City. In the distance you can see the famous imperial palace. This was the home of the Emperor prior to his death on Death Star II. After the battle of Endor, the New Republic made the imperial palace the new capital. Here, Mon Mothma, Leia Organa Solo, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and others worked to form a new government that would be fair and unopressive.
This is monument square. ths is the only place on the planet where there is true native rock. Many races live here in an attempt to live the life their ancestors lived, before the planet was developed.
