Hallie lived a normal life until the event of Onslaught where a stray blast from a sentinel blew up the place where she was supposed to have her birthday killing everyone she loved. Jolt was thrown a distance while her friends and parents were lying in the rubble two floors down. While the sentinels were fighting Spider-man and destroying much of the city Hallie was still numb about what happened but wanted to help out the heroes fighting the Sentinels. She rounded up all the kids she could find and anyone who had been separated from their parents and took them to the basement of a school. A blast struck the school but in time they all managed to dig themselves out. But when they got back to the surface the neighbourhood was devastated and the Rat Pack was wandering around scavenging and kidnapping any survivors. Jolt tried to keep the kids safe but eventually they were captured and then she was. They were all taken to Arnim Zola the Bio-Fanatic and used for genetic experiments. She gained her powers through Arnim Zola's cruel experiments. The others captured all died except for Jolts who became faster, more agile, and charged with bioelectricity.

She became one of the thunderbolts after she was looking for the fantastic four at 4 freedoms plaza when she ran into the Thunderbolts instead, when that used to be their base. The Thunderbolts held a secret from Hallie who they really were. The revelation that the Thunderbolts were villains and more specifically that Moonstone who had been like a mother to her, since her parents were killed was heartless and self-interested didn't help her situation at all. Hallie decided to do what she could and stayed with the team. She helped them stop Baron Zemo's schemes.

Before Hawkeye started being the leader of the team she was the sole moral compass on the team. It put her under much pressure. When Hawkeye became the leader of the team, he had filled her role and she had to attend school under his decision. Hallie was living out her dream playing a superhero and her life was so far different then it was from before with nothing to remind her of the nightmare she had lived through earlier in life until Hawkeye forced her to return to school. Hallie's normal like was destroyed; everyone she loved had been killed so she has been playing superhero to avoid dealing with it. With the help of Moonstone as a psychiatrist Jolt was trying to deal with all that had happened.

After having confronted her problems in Thunderbolts #33 and actually enjoying herself with friends Jolt seemed to be happier and things were getting better for her. Unfortunately she was the first target of Scourge who ended her life and left the Thunderbolts in mourning.

Techno recovered Jolt's body and put her into a bio containment chamber so he could study the relationship between organic matter and energy fields. Techno also put a partial fake body of Jolt for the Burton Canyon police and coroners office. Changing the information they had about Jolt made them complete the autopsy faster.

In Thunderbolts #37 alarms sounded in Techno's lair as there was an energy modulation from within Jolt's containment chamber that was of bioelectric build up. The energy that came from the chamber was higher than any that had previously been displayed. Jolt eventually started to show life signs within the chamber and Techno worked on researching just what was happening. Eventually Scourge infiltrated Techno's lair and with Techno defeated he choose to save Jolt instead of himself.

Jolt emerged from the containment chamber only to confront Scourge, her killer. Jolt didn't get much of a chance for revenge as she teamed up with Scourge to help Atlas from destroying Burton Canyon in Thunderbolts #47.

Jolt was now very different since she is a mass of bioelectricity. For a time she had also lost some her innocent, optimistic side and seemed bitter, especially towards Hawkeye, having revealed his secret lie that the Thunderbolts didn't have a deal with the Commission on Superhuman Activities. Jolt can turn into human form but her body is in poor shape as it suffers from many problems including partial paralysis.

After watching Graviton disintegrate Charcoal into dust in Thunderbolts #56, Jolt attacked Graviton only to be scattered in the sky. Graviton figured that Jolt requires gravity for bandwidth cohesion so he cancelled out the gravity around her until she couldn't keep her corporeal form in one piece.

Jolt reformed herself in Thunderbolts #58 and helped the Thunderbolts defeat Graviton. At the conclusion of the battle she disappeared along with most of the other Thunderbolts and ended up on Counter Earth.
