Ororo Munroe was a mutant with the ability to control the weather. After her parents, who were missionaries, died, she became a theif. She later used her powers to aid local tribes, and they worshiped her as a goddess. When Professor Xavier took her to join his second team of X-Men, she agreed, and returned with him to the United States.

Adopting the code-name "Storm", she became, in many ways, the soul of the team - Even to the extent of being a mother figure to the teenage Shadowcat (Katherine Pryde). An encounter with Dracula bit her and made her like him.

Ororo adopted the name Bloodstorm and left the X-Men, seeking answers about herself and her new state of being as one of the undead. Eventually Bloodstorm returned to her mutant comrades, but this time she joined Havok’s team instead of the X-men, now supervised by Magneto.

Bloodstorm retained her mutant power of weather control, which is amplified by her newer vampire skills. She can transform into mist, summon and control vermin, and has also, on occasion, used a "Hypnotic Stare" to hold humans in her thrall.
