Henry McCoy was born with oversized hands and feet, attributed to his father's exposure to radiation during an accident at a power plant. Henry used these features to become incredibly agile and dextrous, which helped him become quite popular in high school as a football jock. Professor X sought him out and off he wen to the School for Gifted Youngsters. There he trained to use his powers with the original team of X-Men, adopting the code-name "Beast", yes the same one from the 616 reality.
When Henry graduated the School, he began to work for the Brand Corporation. As a genetic researcher, McCoy attempted to isolate the cellular catalyst that causes mutations, using himself as a guinea pig. But, instead of reversing his mutation, as was his intent, Henry underwent complete physical metamorphosis. Now he was a literal beast -- a green-skinned, amphibious monster. Henry's astounding intellect was virtually gone, and with it, all hope for reversing his transformation.
Now known as the Brute, Henry was back by the X-Men, and took part in many of their adventures. But when Magneto was handed the reins of the team, Havok took Brute with him to X-Factor in an effort to protect him from Magneto's influence--and in the hopes of someday finding a cure for his condition.
During the Inferno event, Brute came under the spell of S'YM and N'ASTIRAH. Believing that they were like him, and could offer him help, Brute went along with them and before their plans of world domination could be put to an end, Brute's green legs were replaced with demonic cloven-hooves
Brute is a virtual powerhouse and is one of the most deadly members of The Six. He is remarkably agile, is completely amphibious, can run at high speeds and can rip through almost anything.
