Willow Soundtrack & Audio

The Willow Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

James Horner composed and conducted the sweeping score from the film, and Virgin records released it on audiocassette and compact disc. Since the music runs throughout most of the film, Virgin couldn't possibly fit it all onto one CD, and so they trimmed it down for release; there is currently a petition being conducted by the James Horner Fan Page to release the entire score (click the link below to sign up). The CD is no longer available from Virgin, and old copies are very hard (but not impossible) to find.

[NOTE: The cover art of the soundtrack (same as the jacket art of the novel) closely resembles the general release poster art, but a close examination reveals the differences: Sorsha's darker hair and Willow's more feminine face distinguish the former from the latter.]

The Story of Willow Album

Buena Vista Records distributed this album on vinyl, cassette, and CD. The narration (by Roy Dotrice from Picket Fences) was complimented by James Horner's rousing score and snippets of dialogue from the film. The album accompanied a 16-page full color companion booklet.

As a bonus, the last four tracks of the album were comprised of behind-the-scenes interviews with Warwick Davis, George Lucas, Ron Howard, and Dennis Muren. If you have an MP3 player, you can download and listen to the interview with Lucas by clicking here, and the interview with Howard by clicking here.
