HOLY COMMUNION

Commemorating the death of the Lord Jesus Christ is only one of the reasons for having Holy Communion. It is also the Communion of the Lord's body and blood (1 Cor. 10:16-17). After consecration of the elements there is a spiritual change in the unleavened bread and grape juice. Our Lord Jesus said, "Take eat; this is My body" and "this is My blood" (Mt. 26:26-29). The apostle Paul taught the same doctrine and warned the early Christians that failure to discern the body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ would result in severe consequences (1 Cor. 11:23-29). Partaking of the flesh and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ enables the Christian to have eternal life and be raised at the last day (Jn. 6:52-58).
