Up and Coming
ED HARRIS
Discovered by George Romero in the early 1980's, Ed Harris has been consistently building a brilliant portfolio of memorable performances ever since. This year he has been nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for Pollock based on the life of artist Jackson Pollock, which also marks his directorial debut. While generally relegating himself to strong supporting roles, his leading turn in Pollock is possibly the best role of his career- and that is truly saying a lot. He's been previously nominated for two Best Supporting Actor Oscars and Golden Globes for his work on Apollo 13 and The Truman Show- he won the Globe for Truman. He also has a Globe nomination for his role in Jacknife along with several other critics prizes and SAG awards.
