Ever wonder where Ranec came from?
Margaret Jordan did. Here's what she found:
"Of a different, Negroid type, was a tightly contracted male skeleton from the Kostienki XIV site (Markina Gora), of an early stage of the Upper Paleolithic."
Source: Ice-Age Hunters in the Ukraine by Richard G. Klein; published 1973 by the University of Chicago Press.
'Whinney' - carved in ivory
While we're on the subject...
How about that carving
he did of Whinney?

ivoryIs this Talut's map? Or just one like it?
(Following the link on the 'map' will take you to a larger, 23k picture.)

For better detail of the etching, see it on this Ukranian web site at:

25,000 year old bird-bone fluteThere was no special sequence or order to the gift giving, and the next person Ayla noticed, standing near the platform waiting to get her attention, was Rydag. She sat down near him, and returned his fierce hug. Then he opened his hand and held out a long round tube, the hollow leg bone of a bird, with holes cut in it. She took it from the boy, and turned it around in her hands, not sure of its purpose. He took it back, held it to his mouth, and blew. The whistle emitted a loud, piercing sound.
25,000 year old bird-bone flute - 9cm long.
