I visited the V.A.D. section of Harmony's Road to Avonlea Fan Fiction Website and I got the chance to go on a date with Felix King!  :)  (No not really, but it's fun to pretend!) Click here to visit Harmony's RTA Fan Fiction Website.

Here's her account of Felix and Karen's date on January 21, 2001:
You have just moved to a small town in Canada called Avonlea.  You and your family have just begun to settle in your new home when you begin to miss your old friends.  You decide to get some fresh summer air and hope to maybe meet some nice people in town.  You grab a shawl from one of the trunks that sit in the floor of your still up-packed room.  You retrieve your hat from the dresser that lie alone up against the cream colored wall and walk down the stairs.  Your pink-flowered print dress billows in the cool breeze as you walk to the general store.  As you enter, you hear local women talking about the new family in town.  You correctly assume they are discussing your family who arrived not quite a week ago.

As you apporach the counter, you hear a very hushed voice saying, "And that's the daughter.  I think her name is Karen".

The women smile as you look ath them wondering why they make it a habbit to gossip so much.  You politely smile back.  As you leave the store, you begin to think about your old home and about all the friendly people there.  AS you find yourself lost in thought, you are suddenly knocked to the ground.  You look up to see what happened, when you meet teh gaze of a very concerned looking young man.

"Excuse me, miss!  I am so sorry!  I didn't see you!  Are you all right?" He asked.

You smile and quietly answer, "Yes .... I think so."

"Good!  Allow me."  The very kind and very handsome stranger said while extending his arm to help you back to your feet.

You graciously and shyly accept.  You are surprised by his strenght as if almost by magic, you are back on your own two feet.  "Thank you, sir."

"Of course!  Oh, and please, none of that sir business!  My name is Felix.  Felix King."

"Oh well thank you Mr. King!  My name is Karen", you shyly reply.

"Well Karen, it is very nice to meet you and please, just call me Felix."

"Alright then .... Felix.  If you will excuse me, I should get home and help my family finish the unpacking", you say as you turn down the road toward your home.

"Oh well, are you sure you are alright?  Would you like it if I saw you home?" he asked with a smile.

You blush.  "Oh, that isn't necessary!  I'm fine, thank you!"

"Well alright, then.  Nice meeting you." Felix said with a tip of his brown twill hat.

"Yes, nice meeting you too", you say as your hand finds the spot on your arm that he took to help you up off the ground.  You both turn down the dirt road, you going toward your home, and Felix going toward the White Sands Hotel.  You turn and look back at the handsome young man to find that he too looked back at you.  You quickly turn away again and head for home.  The whole walk home, you are pleasently thinking about the kind young man named Felix King.

"Perhaps Avonlea will work out after all", you mumble to yourself in a soft, happy whisper.

The next morning, you must run errands and pick up some flour from the General Store.  You smile as the sweet sunshine beats down on your face.  When you arrive at the General Store, you make your purchase and turn to leave when you bump in to none other than Felix King!

"Excuse me .... I ..... Mr. King??   I mean Felix!  Funny seeing you here!"  you stammer out, nervously.

"Oh!  Hello again!" He says with his famous side grin.  "Let's hope we don't make it a habbit of always running into each other!  I'm here with my sister, Cecily.  She and I are picking up a few things before I head off to work.  So how are you this morning?"

"Fine thank you.  And yourself?"

"Oh, well I suppose I am doing well." Felix replied.  "Oh, Cess, I would like you to meet Karen.  Her and her family moved to Avonlea just this past week!  Karen, this is my baby sister, Cecily."

"How do you do?" The sweet girl shakes hands with you.  "So, you are new in town?"

"Yes," you reply to the girl with blonde hair, as you silently wish you could make all pieces of your hair stay up on top of your head the way she did.  "We just moved here.  My father wanted to find a small town to farm in.  I only wish I didn't have to leave Halifax!  Avonlea is nice and all, but I really miss my friends and I don't know anyone here, although everyone seems to already know everything about me!"

Cecily grinned and said, "That's Avonlea for you!  Everyone knows everything about everyone in Avonlea!  Well, if you'd ilke, I could introduce you to some of the girls.  Why don't yu come with me today and you can join the sewing circle!"

"That sounds delightful!"  You say as you clasp your hands together in front of you.  "Thank you so very much!"  You begin to find that you just may fit in after all.

"Well, if you ladies will excuse me, I should be getting off to the White Sands.  It was nice seeing you again!" Felix said with a lopsided smile.

"Your brother is very nice, isn't he?" you say to Cecily.

"Sometimes," she says with a laugh.

Later in the afternoon, having already returned from the sewing circle, Cecily invites you to eat lunch at King farm where you get to know the rest of the family.  On your way home from the King's, you find Felix, on his way home from the hotel.

"Well hello again!" He calls out.  "Did my sister show you around?"

"Yes!" You reply with a smile.  "Avonlea is a very lovely town."

"Seems that way.  So you did see everything?  How about the shore?  Did Cess show it to you?" he asks.

"No, we didn't get a chance to make it out that way.  I bet it's just beautiful there!"

"It is.  You have to see it!  Maybe I could show it to you sometime?" Felix says with a very hopeful look on his face.  Then pausing, he says, "Actually, do you have any plans for later this evening?  If you'd like, you could come by the hotel and eat dinner and then I could show you the shore afterwards.  It is so nice in the evening, when the sun is setting.  That's my favorite time to be there!"

You begin to blush as you just realize that you were just asked on a date.  "Oh .... uh .... well .... it sounds lovely!"  Secretly, you are absolutely loving the idea.  It was almost as if providence had arranged it.

"Wonderful!" he says.  "How about six o'clock?  And do you know where the White Sands is"

"That sounds great to me!  Yes, Cecily showed me where the White Sands is."

"Good!  Can you meet me there?  I'll just be finishing my shift."  He said as he turned to head towards home.

"I'll be there!"  You said outloud.  Inside, you were secretly thinking ... "I will definitely be there!  I have a date with the most handsome gentleman on Prince Edward Island!!"
As the time approaches closer to six, you sit at your mirror adjusting your hair.  You have put it up, much in the fahsion you saw Cecily with at the General Store.  "Oh won't you please stay in place?!" you fuss to your impossible hair.  "There!"  you say as you smooth out your lovely light blue dress with a white color.  You choose a sweet baby blue hat to match your dress and begin your walk to the hotel.  You arrive promptly at six and start to feel butterflies in your stomach.  You breathe deeply and approach the front desk.

"May I help you, miss?"  The desk clerk asked.

"Yes.  I am here to see a Mr. Felix King." you say with more confidence than you feel.
"Is he expecting you, miss?  And may I have your name?" The clerk asked.

"Yes, he is expecting me.  My name is Karen."

""He will be getting off shortly.  I will tell him that you have arrived."

You nod plesantly and wait patiently.  Soon, Felix comes down the stairs.  You turn and seem surprised to see him, as he is not dressed in the street garb that you are used to, but he is wearing a very handsome suit.  To yourself, you think, "Good thing I picked my best dress to wear!  Otherwise, I'd be very much under-dressed!"

"Good evening, Karen!" he says as he offers you his arm.  "Shall we eat?"

You willingly accept his arm as he leads you past the kitchen, into a dining hall, where a nice little table by the window has been reserved.  He kindly seats you and then sits across from you.  You can't help but stare into his soft blue eyes.  He smiles at you with such a sweet, lopsided smile.  You feel the urge to giggle, but you only blush.

Conversation started slowly, until Felix finally spoke.  "You look ... really nice," he said quietly.

"Thank you!" you shyly reply.

Soon, you find yourselves talking and eating, and carying on like old friends.  You begin to exchange stories about your families and what you want to do in life.  After an hour or so, you are both finished eating.

"Well, I suppose we should get going and take that walk to the shore." Felix said, almost as a question.

"You nod in agreement and head to the door, arm in arm, of course!  He leads you on a moonlit trail to the shore.  When you first arrive, you are awe struck at how beautiful nature can seem.  The only light is that from the sky and the lighthouse nearby.  You soon experience for yourself how the waves can be so calming as they crash together, and how lovely the purplish/orange sky is as the sun is setting.  You sit, gazing up into the sky, when all of a sudden, a strong gust of wind passes, actually blowing your hat off your head!

You both instantly get up to retrieve the hat when you catch each other in a soft gaze.  You are lifted from your moment when you remember your hat.  You look around, as the wind is settling, to find a baby blue, dirt covered hat.  Felix picks it up, dusts it off, and hands it to you.

"Thank you," you say as you both sit back down, as you find the sky too beautiful to leave it.  Or perhaps you were enjoying yourselves too much and wanted to stay in each other's company a little longer.

Once the sky became dark, the setting sun no longer apparent in the sky, Felix says, "I really ought to get you home."

"Oh yes," you reply as you take note of the time and accept Felix's outstretched arm, "It's growing late.  The shore is really beautiful ... I really hate to leave it!"

You begin to tell about how much you enjoy the beauty of the sky, when you are suddenly pulled to your feet and into a sweet, gentle kiss.  After you break away from the sweet moment, you stare at one another.

"I hope I wasn't being too forward!" Felix said shyly, almost regretfully.  He was very much aware that this may ruin his chance of courting you.

Though you were surprised by his kiss, you really did not mind it at all.  "No, it's alright!"

"Oh, good," Felix said, relief apparent in his voice.  "Well, shall we?"

You happily take his arm as you both walk down the dirt road to your house.  When you were safetly insdie, Felix turned to leave and head back to King Farm.

As you stood upstairs in your recently set-up room, you smile and sigh at the thought of the kiss you shared with the handsome and sweet gentleman.  You sigh again and mumble to yourself, "I think I may just like it here!"

The End!

Thanks Harmony!!  :)
