Avonlea Dreams was my very first project at making websites. I decided to open up an Avonlea site because I love the show so much, I wanted to show it off.
I had first watched Avonlea back in 1990 when it first aired on The Disney Channel. I was only 10 years old at the time and I have always loved the early 1900s era. So I was very happy to see a show like that on TV. I watched the show faithfully every week it appeared. When the series ended in 1996, I was very sad. The King family and the village of Avonlea had become a sort of "second family" to me. I had grown up watching them grow up. But, I knew all good things had to come to an end, so I was just happy that the show had stayed on that long. Then, in 2000, I had found out that Avonlea was back on TV. I was very excited about it. I had my Father order The Hallmark Channel so that I could tape all the episodes. So I sort of re-lived my childhood when I started watching Avonlea once again. I then heard about how you can make a website without having to pay a fee, you just have to use a "freeserver." So I did. I had no clue on how to make a website, but I kept trying. I met a girl through an email group called "Kindred Spirits." Her name is Maude. She had helped me create the site by adding all the main info onto the main page. She then showed me all the creative things you can add to a site. So, I literally would stay up until 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning working on Avonlea Dreams. At times, it would get very frustrating making this site. Adding all the content, graphics, etc., plus I had never done something like this before, so it was all very new to me. But after a while, the site progressed into a huge fan site for Avonlea.
The more I learned on making graphics, etc., the more things I added to the site. Games, music, wallpapers, etc. Then, I started getting tons of positive feedback on the site, which made me think, okay, I'm definately going to keep this site open and updated often. So I did. Once I hit 100 fans on my statistics counter, I was so proud! All my hard work had payed off. So, that's why Avonlea Dreams is waht it is today. All of the fans have kept it alive. After over 5 years of serving Avonlea fans, the site will keep growing and growing. Thank you so much for making Avonlea Dreams what it is today!
