Life
A lot of people have the tendency to go on and on about how their lives were not how they pictured it when they were little.  That their childhood was filled more with grief than they can remember in joy.  That's how people are however, the tend to always focus on the negative and never understand nor comprehend that they had some good times when they were growing up beyond the consistant turmoil.  I am no exception, but I will leave a small summary of how my life went when I was little and then just talk briefly about what I am doing now.

My mother and father divorced around the time I was young.  One could think that I was possibly a reason for the divorce but it really was just coincidental.  Though if you talk to me about any other instant I don't believe in coincidences.  The seperation of my parents was difficult for all of us, as my brother and I had to be shipped between father and mother on irregular occasions or as how the courts deamed it.  I grew up slowly, never really understanding my place in the world as I was always under the strictest governance of my family and my elder brother who I looked up to when I was little.  It wasn't until he moved to live with my dad that I begin the path of self discovery.  It has been a long road since then.  I had to fight depression and horrid relationship breakups that eventually would smooth over as the years passed on and a friendship was rekindled.  At times there would be flings but they would never last for long and it would always be a mutual farewell.

I graduated Southeastern Community College out of West Burlington, IA with my Associates of Arts degree and then moved into the University of Iowa in Fall
of 2002 under the major of Dance.  I took ballet and modern dance with an emphasis on ballet in hopes of eventually making it to the stage.  For those out there who believe that dance shouldn't really be considered a major and that there isn't much work involved, your gravely mistaken. What dance does not have in homework they make you do in practice; hard, stern practice.  The mental stress is what hits you the most.  You begin to realize that if you cannot do a tour jete correctly or that your lagging behind in your bar work that you probably will not be able to make it into the higher level classes.  Without being in the higher level classes you cannot get the professors to notice you... but I digress.  Eventually I realized that there were many things that interested me and that I could not be simply limited to dance.  I had to broaden my horizons and look for something that would pay me just a little more than the average 14 grand a year.  So I took up an Archeology Major.  Unfortunatly that was a huge mistake as I was pressured into taking the prerequisites that comprised of migration theory and learning the difference between rock tool A and rock took B that usually ended up being a single flake that was chipped off the end.  I love archeology, do not get me wrong.  I just could not take any more of classes that you had to wade through until you hit the archeology part.  So I switched to an English major my original true love.

Why didn't I start out with an English degree in the first place? Well I was always under the impression that you didn't need to go to school in order to write and I was right in believing so... but it dosn't hurt.  The classes have helped me read through material and learn things that I would not have originially captured nor discussed with the average friend.  I have learned new stylistic techniques just through reading the classics and have also come to the conclusion that 90% of the English department are complete imbeciles and do not have a shred of writing talent what-so-ever.  I am not worried in the least for getting into the creative writing program here at the University of Iowa after I graduate from school, yet something still tells me not the get to egotistical and to ensure that when my portfolio comes due that I will have my greatest work displayed amidst a panel of judges... now if only my references will hold out. That is the plan so far.

In early August of 2003 I met a beautiful and charming girl named Samantha Smead and we have been going out since October 9th of that same year.  She has been the true love of my life beyond writing and has been able to keep me sane from the insane world.   We hope to help each other with both of our work, as she is a writer as well, and push each other towards eventual puplication.  Not all of my work will be listed on this sight, mostly just a few poems and maybe an excerpt here and there in hopes of keeping my writing style and original idea's ... original.  I do appreciate any feedback that anyone has and if interested in the list, I am always available through correspondance or email.
