Artwork Sources
for my sketches.

by Brandy Dewinter

Some of the illustrations on my pages and accompanying my stories are modifications I made from art originally created by others. If I found a sketch that I thought worked without modification then I used it, gratefully. But sometimes the artwork that I found was not fully compatible with the characters I wanted to illustrate. So, using the original art in the same manner that a real artist might use a live model, I tailored the sketch to fit my stories.

I'm not making any money from this, and I do it with full appreciation of the truly talented artists who created the original images. Hopefully, they will understand.

The page will take a while to load. After all, it is about images. But I hope you'll be patient and see the artwork the way the original artist intended.

Original Artist and Source My Sketch Comment
Chain
Original by Sorayama, obtained at ImageNETion.
Vivid

This was the first modification I ever made. Vivid's hair just had to be longer. Does the modification look "natural"?
Vampirella
Original by Dave Stevens, obtained at ImageNETion.
Brandy

Dave Stevens style is very distinctive, and very attractive, but it seems to me that his girls have very wide faces. I moved the eyes closer together to make my first "real" self-portrait. And longer hair, of course.
Toasty
Original by Gil Elvgren, obtained at ImageNETion.
Celeste

I actually did the illustration first, then wrote the story. My own limitations put a different expression on her face than in Elvgren's original, and that triggered about half the story idea.
Minstrel
Original by Vargas, obtained at ImageNETion.
Synapse

This was the first time I actually tried to create an "outfit" from the graphics rather than just capture what I had already described in text.
Angry Original by Julie Bell, obtained at ImageNETion.
Entropy I needed to add a cape, which made the sketch wider. And Julie Bell's fighter is pretty intense; more angry than I wanted my superheroine to be.
Swinging Original by Julie Bell, obtained at ImageNETion.
Fight The cape made the sketch wider again. If you're interested in seeing one of the options on Entropy's costume, you can go here.
She almost ended up being a redhead!
Languid Original by Vargas, obtained at ImageNETion.
Seduction Could this lady seduce you?
